Father’s Day is approaching fast! Picking out the perfect gift for the father in your life can be tricky. To help you in the process, here are eight of my favorite gifts:
Justin Timberlake once said, “A gentleman can never have too many bow ties.” Bow ties are a great gift to give any dad in your life. Whether worn in the workplace or a at special event, a bow tie is a timeless eye-catching accessory that brings charisma to any plain button down shirt. They come in a variety of colors and patterns to fit the personality of your dad or husband. There are many southern local companies that sell exquisite bow ties. Check out Pelican Coast Clothing Company, NOLA Couture, and NOLA Beaux Ties, LLC.
The Mont Blanc Fountain Pen is the perfect gift to elevate any father’s office with a flare of elegance. My mother gave me my first Montblanc in 1978 after my first semester at graduate school. I love mine and carry it in my dress pocket. It is a classy pen that not only writes well but also makes a statement declaring professionalism. These pens are offered in various colors and styles so rest assured you can find the perfect fit for the father in your life. Lee Michael’s Fine Jewelers is Baton Rouge’s local Montblanc Authorized Retailer.
Sailing is one of my favorite hobbies. For sailor or boater would love the Speedpuck. The Speedpuck speedometer calculates accurate speed by measuring the Doppler shift of GPS signals, providing a reading that is updated twice a second. It is a great handy tool for the mariner in your life.
Allen Edmonds’ shoes are a must-have! Every father needs a nice pair of dress shoes to wear to the office or for special occasions. Lucky for you, there is a Father’s Day Sale starting June 2nd and lasts until June 19th. Catch a deal and score the perfect gift! No time to order online? Carriages Fine Clothiers in Baton Rouge carries the brand.
Looking for some crawfish or catering on Father’s Day? Try Pit-N-Peel! Pit-N-Peel is absolutely delicious. This locally owned restaurant is located on 2101 Government St. in Baton Rouge. Check out their dine in menu for a quick lunch date with dad or grandpa. You will both leave full and happy!
My friend, Steven Bass, is the author of Beauty, Memory, and Unity. The book presents numerical and geometrical methods used to describe the elements of classical architecture in reference literature such as Vitruvius, Vignola, and Palladio. A central theme throughout the book is the philosophical nature of beauty as a form of good, beauty’s relation to proportion, and its significance in classical art. It is an interesting summer read at the beach or in leisure time. I strongly suggest this book as it’s an excellent gift.
This mini statute is the Roman goddess of the hunt and the moon, artfully aiming her bow and arrow. It was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This significant piece of art is a unique gift to give and can enhance the classical elegance of any office.
