Ranch renovation still inspires more than a decade later

1049861_house-after_xlWe’ve always said that “good design is timeless.”  Today, thanks to the good folks at My Home Ideas, we have a demonstration using one of our very own renovation projects.

We subscribe to the My Home Ideas design newsletter, read it regularly, recommend the site to clients looking to find inspiration images to help define their taste or preferences.

How exciting to open today’s newsletter, My Home Ideas Secrets to Curb Appeal and see a renovation completed by our office over a decade ago! For the complete text of the mention go to http://bit.ly/ranchrenovation.

Originally built in the 1970’s, the home was in a great neighborhood. Unfortunately, the garage doors dominated the facade and the entrance to the home was literally lost in the shadows. To solve the design dilemma, Kevin Harris extended a shed roof at the garage entrance.  A cedar door flanked by fixed shutters provided a formal entrance that addressed the street AND gave an exterior side porch. To give additional separation to the porch entrance, Kevin’s specified the concrete flooring under with a distinct texture from that of the driveway.

The renovation project began in 1999 and was featured in Southern Living in 2002.  See http://bit.ly/ImprovedFacade for the text of the Southern Living article. Bobby Devillier of Rose Point Renovations, LLC, was the contractor.
